At Cynergy, we believe fitness is about more than workouts — it’s about building strength, confidence, and community. This week we’re excited to highlight Wendy Gillis, a dedicated member of our 8 AM BUILD class who shows up with determination and positivity every day.
Life Outside the Gym
Wendy retired five years ago after a career in Cardiovascular Medicine, where she spent many years helping others care for their health.
Fitness has long been a part of Wendy’s life. She was an avid runner for more than 20 years, and some of her favorite memories include running through the Blue Hills after work and on weekends with her husband.
Running is truly a family affair — Wendy’s husband completed five Boston Marathons and the Dublin Marathon, and today both of their children also participate in CrossFit.
Her Cynergy Journey
Wendy has been training at Cynergy for three years and is a regular in the 8 AM BUILD class.
She especially enjoys the Cynergy BUILD program because it allows her to see real progress while continuing to learn and improve her lifting technique.
Favorite Lift
Wendy’s favorite lift is the deadlift.
“I like the deadlift because I feel like it’s my strongest lift.”
Favorite Workouts
Wendy especially enjoys the BUILD program because of the opportunity it provides to grow stronger and more confident with each class.
“I really enjoy the Build class because I have been able to see the progress I have made and it is a great way to learn all the different lifts.”
Goals and Motivation
Wendy’s goal is simple and inspiring:
“My current life goal is to stay active and continue to challenge myself every day.”
Impact Beyond the Gym
Training has had a meaningful impact on Wendy’s life.
“Training has given me the confidence to do things I would have never attempted before.”
Community
Wendy summed up what many members feel about Cynergy:
“I am honored to be a part of such a wonderful community.”
Wendy is part of the growing Cynergy community that brings members together from across the South Shore, including Hanson, Whitman, Pembroke, Halifax, East Bridgewater, and Plymouth.
At Cynergy Training in Hanson, members of all ages come together to build strength, improve health, and support each other along the way.
We are proud to have Wendy as part of the Cynergy family and grateful for the positivity and dedication she brings to the Cynergy BUILD class every morning.

Partner A: Wall Balls
Partner B holds Farmers Carry
*Switch movements as needed.
Score = Total Wall Balls
Station 2
Partner A: Dumbbell Rows
Partner B: Run 100m
*When the runner returns, switch.
Score = Total Dumbbell Rows
Station 3
Partners alternate sets:
10 Bench Press
10 Deadlifts
*Partners tag each other in.
Score = Total reps
Station 4
Partner A: 100m Overhead Plate Carry
Partner B: MRAP
- 20 Single Leg Weighted Calf Raises 10/10
- 15 Ring Rows
*Switch after the OH carry.
Score = Total rounds in the AMRAP
