Spotlight Athlete Tracey Delehanty

Athlete Spotlight Tracey Delehanty working out at Cynergy Training

Ever since Tracey Delehanty walked in the door at Cynergy Training she has embraced what we are all about. She stared her fitness journey at Cynergy after a knee replacement, looking to regain strength and mobility. Every day she comes in with a huge smile and she brings all the energy and laughs to the class. Aside from her boundless energy and enthusiasm, Tracey is always ready to try a new skill and loves practicing her lifts at home with her broom! From a simple handstand hold to wall walks, and being unable to jump to doing box jumps Tracey continues to inspire others and crush her goals!

Congratulations, Tracey! Your courage, humor, and commitment inspire our entire community—and we’re so grateful you’re part of Cynergy.

What do you do for work?

I work as a laboratory scientist in the biochemistry lab at Boston Children’s Hospital. I have worked there for 38 years.

What would you like us to know about you and your family?

I grew up I Braintree and have been in Abington for over 30 years.
I have 2 adult sons that are everything to me.
I love doggies too - I have 2.

What is one thing that we may not know about you?

I was detained in Sloppy Joe Jail - and I have the right to remain silent.

How long have you been training and what time do you typically train?

I started working out at Cynergy about 10 months ago. The classes vary due to my work schedule, but include the 6 am and 5:15 pm.

What is your favorite lift and why?

I’m going with the hang power clean. It’s like a dead lift with an explosion, it is very “techniquey” (not a word) and involves the whole body. But I mostly like the hang power clean because I cannot break 90 degrees in a squat!!

What is your favorite WOD and why?

I don’t know, I can say that they are always very challenging and I’m having fun.

What are your current life goals?

I am looking forward to retirement. I am ready to kick back a bit, relax, enjoy life. Have fun.

What is your most memorable time as an athlete?

Personal accomplishments are always memorable:

  • First handstand - something I would have never tried
  • Rope climb - I did a little something last time I tried

Personal mishaps are also memorable:

  • Falling off the rower (don’t ask)
  • Shirt flying over my head during handstand, flashing old lady belly, I didn’t care, I held that hand stand!

How has training impacted your life outside of the box?

Simply put, this training makes me feel good, and feeling good is a big deal. This program not only makes me physically stronger, but it also puts me in a good spot mentally. Overall healthier life. Pretty deep huh?

I appreciate being noticed as “super super super” athlete of the month. And even though I dance some, and make up my own stretches, I have learned a ton and have seen a lot of improvement. I feel great. All of this made possible by Cindy, the remarkable coaching staff and all of the super supportive and really cool members. Many Thanks to all.
