Spotlight Athlete Siobhan Kinney
Congratulations to Siobhan for being selected as our Spotlight Athlete of the Month!
Siobhan has become one of the most consistent athletes showing up at 5am, typically M/W/F every week. She continues improving her skills and developing her strength. An always friendly face to the new members, she has an absolute positive presence in the class. Siobhan is extremely coachable and willing to learn and try new things, just as she is willing to offer advice for athletes in need. She is supportive and a bright light in the morning class. Well deserved, Siobhan!
What do you do for work?
Sales and Marketing Director, Senior Living (FT) Bookkeeper (PT) and I am also owner/worker of a small cleaning company.
What would you like us to know about you and your family?
I have been with my husband since I was 14, high school sweetheart literally! We have three children, Ryan 24, Kory 23, and Abby 22. I also have two dogs Gary and Mury. My family is everything. They are great young adults and I thank God every day!
What is one thing that we may not know about you?
I love Swedish fish. I also start work at 9:00 so I could go to the 6 or 7 class but I’m committed to my 5am family.
How long have you been training and what time do you typically train?
Next month, I will have been with Cynergy for 4 years. I started off as a boot camper and decided to give the box a try and have been a committed 3 days a week trainer at the 5am class.
What is your favorite lift and why?
Split Jerks or Push Press prob because it works legs, core and shoulders all in one.
What is your favorite WOD and why?
Thanksgiving with the Girls because it’s a little of everything.
What are your current life goals?
Personal growth is to practice mindfulness to improve my overall health. Financial standpoint is to assist in paying off two of my children’s student loans. A little help from lottery would be nice BUT I guess I need to play to win. 🙂
What is your most memorable time as an athlete?
Every workout. All the words of encouragement from my fellow athletes keeps me inspired to KEEP going even when I say I CAN’T! I am the oldest in my class but that never stops me!! 51 and strong!!
How has training impacted your life outside of the box?
It has impacted me beyond the gym with personal growth, health and well being and social connections. It has led to being more confident and I would like to believe in better stress management.
Additional comments:
I want to thank all the coaches for their commitment and dedication especially to Emily for ALWAYS taking time to explain, demonstrate and critique any lifts I may need assistance with. I say goodbye and thank you at the end of class and she will reply with “great job” sometimes even “great job mama” Cynergy is the best way to start my day.
