Sarah has been chosen as July’s Spotlight Athlete because of her coachable attitude and willingness to learn. Sarah always come to class ready to give it 100%, even if it is not her favorite movement or the WOD looks especially grueling. She is an awesome athlete and a pleasure to have in class everyday of the month is a title well earned.
It is also evident that Sarah has taken the confidence she has gained and dedication to bettering herself into her every day life. She just glows! Her willingness to dive head first into hard things is what you want to see with every athlete. Sarah is a role model for her family and those around her!
What do you do for work?
I work at EMD Serono as the Senior Administrative Coordinator for Global Market Access and Pricing. I manage the administrative team, plan meetings and events, as well as support a group of leadership team members with day to day business needs.
What would you like us to know about you and your family?
We are an easy going, relaxed family where everyone can be themselves. We love being outside (preferably on a lake) and have a deep affinity for Marvel movies. Even though we say we are going to vacation elsewhere, we keep ending up at Disney!
What is one thing that we may not know about you.
Christmas is my favorite holiday! The day after Thanksgiving I pretty much turn into an elf.
How long have you been CrossFitting?
Since January of 2023.
What time do you typically train?
6am or 7am
What is your favorite lift and why?
Deadlift. I love how strong they make you feel! Back Squat is a close second.
What is your favorite WOD and why?
I don’t have a favorite WOD in particular. I’m finding that I really like the long, low rep, heavy weight workouts where you just need to grind through.
What are your current life goals?
First and foremost to stay healthy and fit to be able to enjoy life to its fullest! Travel more as a family, knit more sweaters, lift heavier weights, grow more flowers, learn more recipes…In short to live life in the moment with a good mix of adventure and simplicity.
What is your most memorable time as a CrossFitter?
There are two instances that come to mind. The first was doing Murph. I was so super nervous and a little overwhelmed. Heather worked with me to break it down and pace it. I am not sure if I’ve ever been more proud to finish something! The second was Game of Ages. It pushed me so far out of my comfort zone mentally and physically.
How has CF impacted your life outside of the box?
CF has impacted pretty much everything! It has been 7 months of finding joy in working out and fueling my body not to become smaller, but stronger. It’s been so fun to be on this journey with Greg and the kids too! It really has become a family affair. Graeme and Em love coming to Cynergy just as much as we do!
I think the biggest impact has been the confidence to do things that are out of my comfort zone.
How would you best describe Cynergy to others?
The best community you could ever imagine. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging and just happy that you’re there. I’ll never forget Charlene telling me that there was a group of people who get together to knit & crochet on Sundays. I knew immediately that I was in the right place.
Any additional comments:
I just want to say thank you to all the coaches but specifically Cindy, Heather, Alannah, Emily, and Charlene. Your support and encouragement has meant the world to me.
