How Cynergy First Responders Train for the Job — and for Life

Strength for the Job. Strength for Life.

Cynergy Training First Responders

Every day, First Responders step into situations that demand strength, clarity, compassion, and resilience — and the preparation for that kind of work starts long before the uniform goes on. Cynergy Training is proud to help police recruits, firefighters, EMTs, dispatchers, and military members build the strength, stamina, and confidence they need to excel on the job. Whether they’re preparing for the Physical Ability Test (PAT), entering the academy, or maintaining lifelong readiness, Cynergy provides the kind of functional, intelligent programming that directly translates to real-world demands.

But Cynergy isn’t just for First Responders.

We also support teachers, nurses, business owners, tradespeople, parents, and everyday professionals who want to feel healthier, stronger, and more capable in their daily lives. Many of our members come to Cynergy to build back their energy, improve their mobility, manage stress, support their mental well-being, or simply feel like themselves again. The same training that helps a firefighter climb stairs under load also helps a parent lift their kids with confidence, or a business professional get through a long week with more clarity and less pain.

Across conversations with our First Responder community — and with the many professionals who train alongside them — one truth became clear:

Cynergy doesn’t just build strength. Cynergy builds people.

What follows are powerful, personal stories of how our training has shaped careers, improved health, and given people the confidence to show up at their very best — on the job and in life.

Voices From Our First Responder Community

Emily Ryan— Environmental Police Officer

Emily originally joined Cynergy several years before applying to the police academy. Her goal was simple: build strength and confidence before stepping into one of the most challenging environments of her life. What she found at Cynergy was far more. The long AMRAPs, barbell cycles, sandbag work, and conditioning sessions became the blueprint for her success in the academy.

She shared that even her academy training officers noticed her proficiency with barbell movement and kipping pull-ups — skills she sharpened at Cynergy. But she’s quick to emphasize that the mental training mattered even more. When cadets were yelled at, pushed to their limits, or disciplined without explanation, Emily leaned into the mental calm Cynergy taught her: keep moving, don’t react emotionally, stay steady under stress.

Working in public safety often means dealing with anger, intoxication, mental instability, or unpredictability. Emily shared that the mental overstimulation of the academy mirrored the emotional reality of her job.

And in those moments?

She relied on the same lesson she learned during long workouts like Murph:

"Keep moving forward — one breath, one rep, one step at a time."

Congratulations to Emily for receiving the Rhode Island's Wildlife Officer of the Year!

Kasey Colligan— Firefighter

Kasey has always understood that firefighting requires a specific type of strength — grounded, functional, and ready for the unexpected. She came to Cynergy because she needed training that mirrored the real physical demands of her job: lifting heavy gear, climbing, carrying, dragging, stabilizing, and working through long periods of elevated heart rate.

She shared how Cynergy’s programming helped her maintain the discipline and conditioning needed for long shifts in full gear. When it came time to transfer to a new department and complete the Physical Ability Test, she walked in feeling strong, confident, and prepared.

“Cynergy kept me ready for the PAT — and for the job.”

Katlynn Kingman — Paramedic & Cynergy Coach

Katlynn has always been drawn to high-intensity workouts, but Cynergy gave her something deeper: a foundation that directly supports the most physically demanding parts of EMS work. She shared that Cynergy has prepared her “in every aspect imaginable,” from climbing countless flights of stairs with equipment, to physically supporting patients, to reacting quickly in unpredictable circumstances.

Her training also supports her mentally — giving her the stamina to stay focused during chaotic calls and the emotional resilience needed for the tough moments that come with being a paramedic.

“In every aspect imaginable — Cynergy has prepared me for this work.”

Carlos Pagan — Army National Guard & Cynergy Coach

Carlos joined Cynergy because he wanted to get back into shape and be part of a supportive community again. What he found was a place that strengthened not just his body, but every part of his life.

He shared that Cynergy has helped him with mental health, strength, mobility, and overall readiness for his military responsibilities. The discipline, structure, and consistency of the training mirror the expectations of the National Guard, and the camaraderie inside Cynergy reflects the community bond he values.

“Cynergy has helped my mental health, strength, and preparedness — all of it.”

Marc Vigneau — Police Officer & Retired Cynergy Coach

Marc originally joined Cynergy to compete in a First Responders Challenge — and ended up staying for years because the training made such a difference in his life and career.

The strength and conditioning he developed here helped him stay capable in physically taxing situations while the mobility work and smart programming allowed him to avoid injury and stay sharp. Even now, as a retired Cynergy coach, he applies what he learned here every day on the job.

“Cynergy keeps me in shape to do my job at the level it requires.”

Marc Vigneau

Henry “Marty” Bosworth Jr. — Retired Firefighter & Cynergy Coach

Marty first came to Cynergy at the encouragement of a coworker, and he quickly realized how much this training could have supported him throughout his fire service career. After decades of carrying gear, climbing stairs, and responding under pressure, he found that Cynergy’s blend of strength, mobility, and conditioning made everyday movement easier and reduced the wear and tear he’d accumulated over the years.

Now retired from the fire service but coaching at Cynergy, Marty often reflects on how closely this training mirrors the real demands of the job — and he’s passionate about helping others in the field build the strength and resilience they need.

“Every firefighter should be doing this training. I wish I had started years earlier.”

Marty Bosworth

Anonymous — Retired Army

She first began training at Cynergy because she loved the idea of structured workouts led by a coach — sessions that challenged her, offered accountability, and incorporated the gymnastics-style movements she enjoyed. Once she joined the Army, her training took on a new level of purpose. She became especially serious about building endurance, stamina, and the kind of functional strength demanded by military life.

Cynergy became the place where she could consistently develop those abilities. The mix of planned programming, coaching guidance, and supportive community helped her stay physically prepared and mentally grounded through some of the most demanding phases of her career. Even in retirement, the benefits remain — confidence, strength, and stability that carry into everyday life.

“Cynergy was my biggest support during my transition from military service.”

Anonymous — Police Officer

This officer began training at Cynergy to improve his physical fitness and to feel more prepared for the unexpected demands of police work. The strength and conditioning work he developed at Cynergy has helped him handle physically intense situations, while the mental resilience he built allows him to stay steady and clear-headed under pressure.

He shared that Cynergy has been crucial in helping him respond effectively — not just to predictable challenges, but to the unpredictable, high-stress moments where quick decisions matter most.

“Cynergy has prepared me for every unknown circumstance I face at work.”
