What do you do for work?

I’m a Re-housing Case Manager at a Homeless Shelter in Quincy. I work with folks on stabilizing and finding long term housing.

What would you like us to know about you and your family?

My husband and I live in Whitman with our two cats, Mac and Cheese, our border collie, Penny, and our turtle, Myrtle. We’ve been here for over seven years. I also have a (20 y.o) baby brother, incredibly supportive and patient parents, and a big extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins cheering on from afar.

What is one thing that we may not know about you?

Since starting this whole journey, I’ve lost 80 pounds—and gained so much wisdom from the mistakes I’ve made along the way. I never expected to enjoy movement this much or ever even touch a barbell. I’m still figuring it out—how to fuel myself, how to move with purpose, and how to challenge the limits my mind still wants to put in place. Progress is slow, sometimes weird, and full of trial and error. But we’ll get there, one awkward step at a time.

How long have you been Training?

I first started CrossFit in 2019 but fell off after COVID hit. I’ve now been back and training with Cynergy for the past three months.

What time do you typically train?

6 a.m.

What is your favorite lift and why?

Deadlifts, they were the first PR I ever earned!

What is your favorite WOD and why?

So far, my favorite WOD’s been Cindy. It’s a sneaky one!

What are your current life goals?

Keep moving and keep learning!

What is your most memorable time as an Athlete?

The 25.1 Open stands out as one of the many times I’ve felt the support and encouragement from everyone at Cynergy. It was one of my first classes, and even before I knew anyone’s name, people were offering pointers and cheering on. The energy in the room was unreal.

How has Cynergy impacted your life outside of the box?

It’s shown me that it’s okay to do scary things—to stumble, to jiggle, to get dragged under the rower (true story!), and to try something completely new. It’s taught me how to be brave in all the messy, awkward, and amazing parts of growth.

Additional comments:

Seriously, I’m so thankful for this community. Thank you to everyone who’s offered encouragement, and to the coaches who keep me accountable and believe in me—often more than I believe in myself. Your support makes it easier to keep showing up, even when my legs say no and my alarm clock says “why are we like this?”
