We can’t let this month go by without publicly acknowledging our current “Cynergy Kids’ Spotlight Athlete!”
John has been attending our Cynergy Kids program for seven months and we can’t imagine the program without him! John is such a mature eight-year-old. He demonstrates a model of integrity like no other athlete I’ve seen before, including the adults I’ve worked with and alongside! If there is a specific distance that needs to be adhered to in a WOD, John will be sure to “go the extra distance” to make sure he’s legit. We consistently talk about standards in specific movements and John is one student who WILL call himself out and no-rep himself if he doesn’t stick to the standard. He will do extra rounds or extra reps “just in case.” That’s so rare to see in an eight-year-old! John is always kind to every one of his peers in class. He is quick to offer compliments and he always helps his friends and coaches clean up after the workouts.
John’s peers interviewed him and discovered some interesting facts about him! John is a 3rd grader from Hanson. What he likes to do best in school is science projects. He also likes to go to the library. He claimed “another passion of mine is making books.” His favorite color is red and his favorite food is strawberries. His favorite animal is a dog. He likes to wear Under Armor and Adidas brand clothing.
John’s dad is a CrossFitter at Cynergy as well and John loves to “talk CrossFit” with him. John’s peers think it’s funny that John LOVES burpees! His favorite workouts are when burpees are involved! John also loves doing pull-ups. He even invented his own “L-Sit, Pull-up, kick” movement! John’s favorite game in Cynergy Kids is dodgeball “because you still work out when you get hit…and it’s fun!” His favorite color ball to get hit with is the rainbow ball because he gets to pick the movement (burpees, no doubt!). John concluded the interview by saying that he loves the Cynergy Kids program so much is because “everybody helps each other and gives high-fives” and he likes when they help their friends finish workouts if some finish before others.
Thank you for being such a great role model, John! You impress us SO MUCH! Keep up your AWESOMENESS!!
