What brought you to Cynergy?
When we learned that CrossFit Boost was closing it’s doors in 2018, the owners recommended Cynergy. My husband (Scott) and I took some time to consider our options and after speaking with Cindy and checking it out for a week or so, we were hooked.

How long have you been a CrossFitter and Coach?
I have been doing CrossFit since 2015. I started coaching in 2019.

What is your athletic background?
I was an Irish Step-Dancer my whole childhood through high school. Played youth soccer for years but became too busy with dancing to continue. As an adult, I began running a lot in 5k’s and eventually half marathons (I think I ran a total of 6 halves, never ran a full marathon, though). Eventually, after listening to Scott go on and on about the benefits of CrossFit, I tried it out.

What would you say is the best part of being a CrossFit Coach?
My favorite part of being a coach is watching people do things they never dreamed they would be capable of. This is so exciting for the athletes and the coaches. It never gets old!

What advice would you give to a new athlete?
To just start where you are. Don’t worry about what other people can do, just start. The little things you do everyday will add up and you will be shocked at what you are capable of and where you end up if you give yourself the opportunity. Don’t let fear take that away.

And, a veteran athlete?
SAME advice! Show up everyday, never stop learning and trying. You are never too old to learn something new. I got my 1st muscle up at 40! Hopefully at 41, I will get some more.

What are your current goals as a Coach?
To keep learning and getting better so I can do my best to help you all get better!

And, as an athlete?
Get better at skills. I love lifting, but need to get better at skill movements. And to keep having fun with the community because that is what it is all really about, and what keeps me coming back!

What is your favorite movement to coach?
Kipping pull-ups

What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I am a big hippie. I have a Grateful Dead tattoo, and got to see them at the Boston Garden. When I am alone in the gym you might catch me listening to them. I used to go to music festivals camping all the time.

How would you describe the Cynergy Community?
Accepting, fun and always ready to help, whether it be for something in the gym or something in your life.

What are some of your favorite or most memorable moments as a coach?
When athletes send me texts or messages thanking me for helping them accomplish something new. Very satisfying when you know you contributed to their confidence in some small way. And with the youth classes. They are like sponges, I love watching them learn and get stronger.
