Monica! Plain and simple 🙂
How long have you been a Crossfitter and Coach?
I have been doing crossfit since 2014 and been coaching since 2017
What is you athletic background look like?
I rode horses competitively as a young child right through my mid twenties. Having horses doesn’t leave a lot of time for other activities.  But now a days in between days I’m at crossfit you could find me wake boarding, water skiing or stand up paddle boarding.
What would you say is the best part of being a CrossFit Coach?
Helping people achieve their fitness goals, and helping people work through movements they are having trouble with to help get them to achieve a lift or skill.
What advice would you give to a new athlete?
Give yourself time! and Don’t add weight too fast.
And, a veteran athlete?
Remain coach-able, CrossFit is always evolving and we are learning new movements and techniques constantly. Be open to trying new things and keep pushing yourself to do better!
What is your favorite movement to coach?
Squats! Most gymnastics movements as well
What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I really like plays and musicals
How would you describe the Cynergy Community?
Its an amazing community and has something to offer everyone no matter what age or fitness level you are at!
What are some of your favorite or most memorable moments as a coach?
As challenging and stressful as the Opens can be, It’s one of my favorite times of year because it’s the best way to tell who has been putting in time and working on their weaknesses and holes in their game.  It was incredible to watch Janine this year get 5 pull-ups in a row in one of her workouts. I got chills watching Heather fight through multiple reps of 135 pound squat cleans when that was her old PR. There are definitely many more but those were two that came to mind where I felt so very happy for them 🙂
