What brought you to Cynergy?
When CrossFit Boost closed their doors, Cynergy was recommended to me because of its amazing community and great programming.
How long have you been a CrossFitter and Coach?
I began CrossFit in 2014 and two years later, started coaching in 2016.
What is you athletic background look like?
I have always been involved in sports since I was a kid playing soccer, softball, basketball, cheerleading and dancing year round. As I grew older, I focused on basketball and dance, continuing to dance competitively in college.
What would you say is the best part of being a CrossFit Coach?
The best part of coaching is seeing people accomplish goals, complete a new movement for the first time and/or PR on a lift or WOD. I enjoy sharing that excitement with other members of the gym.
What advice would you give to a new athlete?
Be patient, some things take time! Track your lifts and benchmark workouts. You’ll thank yourself when you can see your success unfold!
And, a veteran athlete?
If there is a movement that is tough for you, don’t skip the workout because it’s not one of your strengths. Come in that day and focus on the coaching points. If it means scaling back to focus on the technique and build strength in a movement then do it!
What are your current goals as a Coach?
To expand my knowledge base in all areas, it is important to keep learning.
And, as an athlete?
Find time to commit to accessory work to improve areas of weakness.
What is your favorite movement to coach?
I enjoy coaching all squats- back, front & overhead.
What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I used to be very shy growing up and would get anxious about meeting new people.
How would you describe the Cynergy Community?
An amazing group of people who are looking to get fit and improving themselves, as well as, be there to support each other, inside and outside of the gym!
What are some of your favorite or most memorable moments as a coach?
To see members progress and advance through movements! I love the Opens because people surprise themselves all the time!
