Coach Heather Vargus on the HYROX Boston Experience
September 26-28, 2025, Boston, MA: Boston HYROX proved to be everything Coach Heather Vargus expected—and more. The race was long, grueling, and absolutely relentless, testing endurance, strength, and mindset at every turn.
“I hadn’t originally planned on competing,” Heather shared. “But life has a way of shifting things around. So I showed up.”
From the first station to the last lap, Heather pushed through fatigue and discomfort, reminding herself why she trains the way she does. “It wasn’t my strongest performance, but it was definitely one of my proudest—and I left it all out on the floor,” she said.
What made the difference? Her people.
“What carried me through was my people. Having them there—showing up, cheering, pushing, and reminding me I could keep going—it meant everything.”
HYROX may be brutal, but for Heather, it was also unforgettable. “I went home exhausted, broken down in all the best ways, and extremely grateful.”
Her journey is a reminder that showing up—especially when things don’t go as planned—can be its own kind of victory.
