Athlete’s Spotlight — Jennifer Stauss

Congratulations to Jennfier Stauss, Cynergy CrossFit’s Athlete Spotlight for January!
Jennifer is a very dedicated athlete and her consistency with her training is really showing up in BIG ways! Congratulations Jenn and keep pushing for more and putting in the work!  You are a true joy to coach!

What do you do for work?
I am a dance teacher.

What would you like us to know about you and your family?
I have two wonderful rescue dogs Joplin (catahoula leopard) & Bonnie (German Shepherd)… I don’t know how I ended up with two big dogs since I always thought I’d get a little one!

What is one thing that we may not know about you?
I teach, choreograph and train 14 competitive dance teams and choreograph around 50 dance routines per year.

How long have you been CrossFitting?
I did CrossFit for about 1 year over at One Nation in Waltham, took 3 years off and now I’ve been at Cynergy for about a year and a half.

What time do you typically train?
7am

What is your favorite lift and why?
Power cleans, seems complicated when you first learn it but once you get the hang of it it’s surprising how much weight you can lift.

What is your favorite WOD and why?
There’s one we did on Juneteenth, I just remember it being so incredibly hard I thought I might pass out. I always feel pretty accomplished after finishing a work out that pushes you way past what you thought you were even capable of.

What are your current CF goals?
Get a triple under, improve my toes to bar and handstand push ups.

What are your current life goals?
Go to Tokyo and the Amalfi Coast & receive Best Choreography for the second year at one of our upcoming dance competitions.

What is your most memorable time as a CrossFitter?
Finally being able to do pull ups in the WOD.

How has CF impacted your life outside of the box?
I’ve gotten a lot stronger so now I can carry all those large bags of dog food! I also went to Utah and my friend was shocked at how well I was able to keep up due to the high elevation, must be from all the CrossFit!

How would you best describe Cynergy to others?
Great atmosphere with awesome people!

If you could write a workout that describes you, what would it be and why?
Something with box jumps, power cleans, running and pull ups. I like box jumps, I’ve always enjoyed doing leaps in dance it’s kind of similar, running is always a nice breath of fresh air and now that I can do pull ups I actually enjoy them!

Today we Celebrate YOU Jennifer! 🙂
