Athlete Spotlight: Yiwen Wang

Yiwen Wang is Cynergy CrossFit’s Athlete Spotlight for December! Yiwen always has an amazing attitude, is very coachable, and always makes the effort to make it to the gym consistently despite a demanding work schedule. The 6:30pm class is always so fun when she’s a part of it. Congratulations Yiwen!

What do you do for work?
On my way to practice international law

What would you like us to know about you and your family?
I grew up in a traditional Chinese family.

What is one thing that we may not know about you.
I play piano since age six.

How long have you been CrossFitting?
2 years

What time do you typically train?
6:30pm

What is your favorite lift and why?
Squat snatch because if I fail I can blame on timing.

What is your favorite WOD and why?
Annie. It is a DU workout.

What are your current CF goals?
Bar muscle ups, HSPU, HS walk, strict & butterfly pull-ups… yeah it’s a long list…

What are your current life goals?
Have a knowledgeable brain, a fit body and most importantly, a beautiful heart.

What is your most memorable time as a CrossFitter?
After 25 years, my mom said to me:“hmm since when you can get up at 6am…and can move?” I then dragged her to run with me for 3 miles.

How has CF impacted your life outside of the box?
CF involves progressively overloading the muscles by taking them to complete failure, coming back, and performing past the point where I last failed, consistently making small increases over time. I’ve been applying the same principle to everything from study to work to life.

How would you best describe Cynergy to others?
A caring community where you see positive changes in your mindset and your life.
