From Processed Snacks to Power Meals
Giovanni is an 8th-grade football player who has been part of our Youth Strength & Conditioning program for quite some time. This year, he decided to take his performance to the next level by focusing on nutrition — and what a difference it made!
When the season began, Giovanni set out to make weight for football. With determination, discipline, and guidance from Coach Charlene, he overhauled his eating habits in just over a month — dropping nearly 20 pounds while gaining energy, focus, and strength.
The Game-Changing Shift
- Giovanni replaced cereal and Dunkin’ runs with steak and eggs.
- He swapped pizza, McDonald’s, and takeout for chicken, beef, potatoes, vegetables, and fruit.
- He threw out the processed snacks and soda — and in return, gained confidence, endurance, and control over his choices.
Coach Charlene shared, “HE DID IT! I am so proud of his commitment and drive to play the sport he loves. His dedication shows what’s possible when you fuel your body with real food.”
In Giovanni’s Words
“I’ve learned how to figure out what is good and bad by reading labels. I learned how my plate should look when eating a meal. I now pay more attention to what goes in my body and how it makes me feel. Learning these things helped me be in better shape for football, and I’m happy I learned.”
