WOD 2.05.10

By cynthiabrown | February 5, 2010

Derek coaches Jeff through MAX Effort Push Ups

SKILL Work:  MAX Efforts/Mental Toughness

All out MAX Rep Effort for

Wall Balls

Push Ups

KB Swings

Mike coaches Suzi through the Push Ups

8 AM and the MAX Effort Wall Balls

Pete and Rich fight through the MAX Effort KB Swings

Mental toughness, perseverence, working past a point where the body wants to stop and the mind simply will not allow it…is a SKILL.

As CrossFitters we know about working and pushing through what is difficult in order to complete a task.

Getting comfortable with what is ‘uncomfortable’ is a skill that requires effort just like any other skill that you will learn.  We pushed that envelope a little bit further today.  I am so proud of the efforts I witnessed from you all today.  Every one of you left here with a new perception of where you can go when things get ‘tough’.

Remember that.

Amazing WOD… Loved it! Lesson learned today ~ NEVER put a # on what you THINK you can do because you will stop when you reach that #!

My POOD is shakin still… ;)

I totally agree with Suzi! I let that happen today and it really ticked me off.

Great WOD today. Loved the mental challenge as much as the physical.

I LOVE this stuff! I joke sometimes that Cynergy is better than Disney ~ happiest place on earth. I say this because if you pay attention, you see little slices of absolutely amazing and inspirational things. They are always happening, you just have to be lucky enough to catch them. Sometimes it’s a boot camper totally gutting out a workout (that I’m glad I’m not doing!) or a first unassisted pull up or someone picking up a deadlift that is so freakin heavy, the bar bends or the plates barely fit on.

You miss a lot of what happens in your own group, because you’re focusing on your work and your effort. Today I was getting in a little extra rowing and was rewarded with one of those slices of inspiration. To be able to sit there and watch Suzie and Scott swing enormous kettlebells, then swing them to the point you could tell they wanted to be done (same time I was saying “wow” in my head) and to keep swinging, legitimate swings well beyond what I or they thought possible….I LOVE this shit! They both finished and literally collapsed on the floor. After my “performance” I thought “…now THAT is what MAXIMUM EFFORT looks like.

What a treat! To anyone who put themselves out there like 6 am did, I salute you. It will be in the front of my mind the next time Max Effort day comes around. Great job, guys!

Thank you to those of you who kept the ‘secret’.
MAX Effort looks great on you guys!
    Brilliant work today everyone!
