Maureen Lane
Cynergy CrossFit would like to acknowledge the incredible transformation of Maureen Lane (a.k.a. MEL).
Maureen Lane joined the Cynergy family by signing up for our Boot Camp program in October of 2007 and has been a consistent presence at Cynergy CrossFit ever since. Her dedication and commitment is unstoppable and the proof is in her workout performance, accomplishments and future goals.
Now, a short 2 years later she is a different athlete… a different woman.
Unable to make the jog to the Mail Box (@200M) without walking on day one, she now has an impressive list of accomplishments to her name. Maureen truly epitomizes the impact of 2 years of training and dedication and the profound changes it can make not only on the body but on the person!

Plans for 2010? You bet she has a few!

Just getting started!!! I assure you!
One thing I have learned about Maureen is that she does not back down from a challenge. Whether it be to add a few more weights to the bar or jumping out of an airplane! Her attitude and willingness to go places that are unfamiliar have truly brought her to a new level of fitness and awareness.
Well over 60 pounds lost and PR’s on the Leader Board*, Maureen you are truly an athlete!
*The Leader Board is a list of the top performers in several different workouts – or WODs (Workout of the Day). These are displayed on the wall at the studio.
In the words of some of her fellow athletes…
Carol “B” Wadsworth
When I think of MEL I think “silent thunder.” She flies under the radar, but there is no mistaking her impact. She is consistently improving in the competition with her past performances and continues to inch her way up on the Leader Board. She has entered every challenge created at Cynergy and exceed at all of them – text book case! CrossFit challenges – at Cynergy’s box and CrossFit New England, 100 day push-up challenge, 100 mile run challenge, Zone Diet, Paleo Challenge – I know I’m forgetting some them! I’m proud to work in her midst – I love her drive and her incredible dry wit!

I have come to learn there is NOTHING you can’t challenge Mel to do that she won’t. Rock climbing vacation 2008, Wanna to run a 5k? Wanna skydive? Wanna to run a 5 miler? Wanna run a 10k? Wanna run a half marathon? Wanna climb Mt. Kilimanjaro? Seriously, unbelievable. The transformation she has made with her fitness and physical appearance is totally amazing.

All us girls looked at each other..Still being a nervous wreck of what we were going to be told to do in the parking lot that day… But Maureen (MEL now) and I looked at each other and said, “How bad can 1 hour be?
Maureen is an amazing woman as well as an athlete. She still can’t believe she is referred to as an “Athlete.”
On 10/27 ~ Mel e-mails me… “Pull ups don’t make me want to vomit anymore. I like them and am getting better at them every WOD!” :) AWESOME!
Maureen has inspired so many of us with her willingness to never back down from a challenge – no matter the size. She will undoubtedly continue her pursuits for excellence while inspiring all around her. She is a tremendous leader, athlete and friend. Thank you for all that you do!

Silent thunder… I like that. She never says anything, just gets the job Done. Mel comes in every day and gives it 100%, regardless of the WOD.
It’s been a pleasure and an honor to workout with her every day, and an even greater honor to coach her.
Keep up the good work Mel, you’re an inspiration to us all!

Wow, very inspirational! You couldn’t pick a better athlete (yes, you are an athlete in every sense of the word) to profile. Mel is an amazing woman. I’ve never heard her have doubt. She comes in willing to try anything and sometimes that is all you need…a willingness to try. Her past, present and future accomplishments are awe inspiring and speak for themselves. I check the whiteboard each day to see how those before me fared in the WOD. I am always impressed by everyone. I am continually inspired by Mel. I’m not sure she realizes the impact she has on those of us who don’t even work out along side her at 6AM. She brings a positive energy into the box each and every day. Keep in mind she is a woman who lives life to the fullest as well. She vacations, she hosts family gatherings, she has a huge circle of friends that she makes time for (I know there are so many things I am leaving out) and she is a Boston Attorney. Thank you Mel for what you inspire in me! You embody what most of us are striving towards.

The first time I met Maureen was July 08, I was in my second month of boot camp and decided to do the Cynergy Challenge WOD “Suicide Circuit”. It was a hot summer day. Maureen was my coach at the last leg of the circuit (40 squats). I was dying, ready to puke any minute! I remember Maureen counting down, telling me “you can do this”, I shook my head and told her I was out! She looked me in the eyes and told me to keep going..I did..that 20 minute WOD in the blazing sun kicked my butt! Her voice talking me through it was the only reason I was able to finish!! Thank you Maureen! You represent everything Cynergy is about!

I love working with Maureen! She’s so strong and makes it look easy. She quietly steps up to those big weights and just does it. She’s always supportive and encouraging to everyone else. No matter how wiped out from a WOD she is, she always supports everyone until the last person is finished. And she’s funny – she makes me burst out in laughter just when I need it most. Thank you Maureen!

Maureen,
You are such an inspiration. I don’t think you realize what you have accomplished, and you need to be proud of everything you’ve been through and done! You truly represent what Cynergy is all about–congrats!

Thank you all very much for your extremely kind words! I am very honored. It has truly been an amazing 2 years for me and I don’t think I could adequately express in words what the Browns and the entire Cynergy community means to me. I am eternally grateful for all the amazing support I have received. I have never met a more quality group of people. When I started, I was heading down a very unhealthy path and I was not happy with the person I was becoming – now all of that has changed. I am doing things now I could have never imagined doing before and I am loving every minute of it! So THANKYOU very much! You people ROCK and I am proud to know all of you and be a part of this amazing community! Here is to a great future with Cynergy Crossfit!
