Box & Back Squats

BOX Squats (you can thank Chip for this one!)
*work with a partner on the parallel squat. Using a box at slightly above parallel for your squat have the athlete use a controlled motion to drop their hips to the box without plopping down. Keep the knee DIRECTLY ABOVE the ankle. Really focus on ANY subtle forward motion…and have them try it again until they can squat without driving the knee forward. Continue to make the box lower (remove weight plates) for another couple of rounds.
You will really notice the muscles recruited when squatting this way….for some of us who are truly Quad dominate it proved to be quite a challenge!!

I truly want to commend all of the AM classes. Outstanding job coaching one another! Coaching was key today as you all helped to align your partner in the correct stance for the Back Squats. And in most cases, the subtle changes you shared with each other made for tremendous breakthroughs! Extremely impressive today!
Continue to watch, coach and correct each other…it makes us ALL better!!

I’ve fallen and can’t get up with the extra layers on! It’s cold at 5am..Cindy thanks for tip, felt so strong with the lower bar position!

OK! OK!! I get it…no more slackin’, not even in warm ups, ok SUE?! In my defense, that may have been when Di was doing her Danielle impression and it’s hard to do that whatever-its-calling thingy when you’re laughing.

But Jill even if I was doing the Danielle impression I was still able to do what we were supposed to be doing:) DB – you probably should stop taking rest days.
And Jill make sure you tie your jump rope to your wrist tomorrow so it doesn’t go flying through the parking lot again:)

Funny how you girls only talk crap on my rest days:) Hopefully no one is trying to impersonate me trying to do double unders for 36 minutes today!
