What a great day. We could not have asked for better weather for a run – it was perfect! I had an awesome run and felt strong on those hills. It was great seeing everyone out there in their CCF Outside the Box shirts and fun to cheer everyone on as they completed their leg. I am glad we made it to the finish line to cheer on all of the leg 5 finishers! Loved seeing some burpees at the finish line. It was also great to see that so many people felt really good about their run and in many instances completed a longer distance than they had ever done before. Just proves once and again, that we are capable of much more than we give ourselves credit for. Thank you soooo much to all of our drivers and support people! I know there were some confusing moments out there, but in true CCF style everyone pushed through and made it work! Teamwork at its best! Looking forward to doing it again next year!

Maureen, you have said it perfectly. It was an awesome day. Most people were nervous before the race but everyone did great! I actually surprised myself. I ran my entire 6.15 mile leg of the race without stopping once! I attribute my successful run to all of you. Your words of encouragement kept running through my mind the whole run.
Thanks to Maureen for organizing the event. I never would have attempted a race without you organizing it. Thanks to B for the great photos. Thanks to Matt & Steve for transporting my team in the “creepy van”. Thanks to the Browns for running a first class gym and providing opportunities like this one for us. You are all truly the best and you make me proud to be a member of the Cynergy family.

Awesome Day – 6 miles through leg number 4. Never ran that far before but like Scott said earlier, there was no way I was stopping. Our training pulled me up those Sippiwisset hills which i’ll kindly call Everest and K2. The relay aspect was really enjoyable as well. Seeing the hand-offs and Diana dropping for a pre leg 5 burpee was priceless but the car trips were hysterical. It felt a bit like Marathon meets scavenger hunt…I think our faces said it all. Everyone had that same “holy sh*t” this was fun…look on their face.

I remember the day when Maureen first mentioned the marathon relay…it was very close to the time of the Boston Marathon…and how we started the 100 miles in 60 day challenge to help people change their mind about running…..seems like ages ago, but as with all of these challenges, it is one step at a time, one day at a time and then there we were, some of us running farther than we ever have before….LOVE seeing these things come to fruition. The idea, the challenge, the training, the accomplishment….I will never tire of it!
Running for me, as you all know, is my goat. Something I struggle with but am determined to improve. I truly enjoyed running the first leg with my daughter Payton by my side. I thought that I was holding her back but she later told me she was struggling to keep up! We have since made a pact to run together after school!! I love that!
I was truly impressed with each one of you. The way you supported each other and every other runner that was there.
I remember standing next to DB at the finish line getting all choked up watching some of these people cross to the finish line. All I could see were the hours of training, the sacrifices it took for them to be there, the determination to see it through and the sense of pride in doing so. It was incredibly moving for me.
We have an amazing community of incredible athletes and I am so honored to know you guys!
    Here to next year!!

Yesterday was truly a great day all around – the weather, the people and the race. It was great to see everyone finishing with big smiles on their faces, so happy to be done and so proud of what they had just accomplished.

It was more nerve wracking for me this time compared to other races not wanting to let my teammates down. Was very comforting being at the Start being with the 6 other first leggers. We warmed up in typical CF fashion and then Payton, being the football star that she is, led us in a pre race huddle to cheer us on. The cannon sounded and off we went shuffling towards the official starting line. Once the initial nerves were gone I felt really good.

The first leg was relatively flat until the end. I knew there was one pretty good size hill up and then down before the exchange. A special thanks to Bob Bailey. His words were in my head running up that hill. I’ve heard them so many times running at 5:00 a.m. Head down, pump your arms, take shorter strides and GO!! And especially thank you to Jill. I’ve come so far in my running since that first day on Lewis Park in the snow last March trying to get ready for the 100 mile challenge!! We’ve logged so many miles together and even when you aren’t with me physically you are always there on my shoulder talking me through it. Jill had told me the same thing on Friday about running the hill. She also said don’t be surprised if you find yourself passing people on the hills – and Jill you were right I did pass many people. I got to the top and thought “wow that was easy”. All those 5:00 a.m. after WOD runs paid off. And who knew that running with the PVC pipe the last month would be such good practice for running with a baton!!

Thanks Danielle and John for getting us where we needed to be and Suzie for conquering two legs so easily. Benny – I have never been so happy to see as I was yesterday handing off that baton. Looking forward to next year when we have John back on our team – as a runner not a copilot.

The best part of the day was standing at the finish line with everyone waiting for the next Outside the Box shirt to come running up the street!!! Standing there with Cindy and Keith and the whole Cynergy family was something I won’t forget for a long time.

Maureen – you did an awesome job coordinating. Thank you.

Kudos to all of you marathon-relayers!. I wasn’t really nervous about the race until I saw Jamie S. ……screaming down that hill with the baton in her hand. She was about 15 minutes earlier than I thought she would be. Chip, Gretchen and I calculated her entry time based on so many minutes per mile. I took the baton and started off. Trying not to run so fast, but my adrenaline took over and instantly I was tired. Once I calmed down I realized that about 25 people passed me. Not wanting to let my team down I tried to run faster. Then I got more tired. I finally settled into my pace about 2 mile in and the rest was easy. I passed 3 people that were waliking and a couple more passed me. The beast part was when a man at a cross roads told me I had 1/2 mile to go when I calculated over a mile to go still……Then I saw Karen Wadsworth and smiled to myself! I had a great time. It was great company, a great course, weather and challenge. Like Gaynor says next year “BRING IT!”

Thanks so much to my awesome team (does anyone know what team number we are?). We kicked butt! Chip, Jamie, the mysterious Peter (who I never got to meet!) and Keith! It was great seeing Keith — he looked strong and happy coming down that hill for the exchange! I also wanted to say great job to my fellow 5th leg-ers – we had HOURS to sit and get nervous, cold and stiff. Hanging out with you guys was fun and none of you looked nervous anymore when you crossed that finish line! Thanks to Kristin for driving to the shuttle stop while we all yelled the wrong directions in your ear. I’m surprised you didn’t just drop us off on the side of the road and tell us to walk:). So when’s the next road race?

I was so proud of everyone yesterday. I know a lot of people overcame a lot of anxiety in approaching this race and those long distances. The point is that you are capable of not only doing it, but doing way better than you thought you would.

Yesterday was a lot of fun for me… coming into the first exchange, sprinting down that hill, and looking to hand off to a person that I had never seen before (thanks Jaime for the good physical description! I found him without too much trouble!) So there I am, baton-less and breathing heavy, and the “Nice Job Chip”s began. There was 15-20 Cynergy people who were there for their own teams, and that’s when it hit me (again) what a great community that we are a part of. Can you imagine any other aspect of your life where you can gather up 40 of your cohorts for ANYTHING, never mind physical torture????? It’s a fantastic thing that I will NEVER take for granted.

When you have Cynergy and CrossFit in your corner, you really can do anything. Part of the CrossFit prescription is “Learn and play new sports.” So now that this physical challenge is over with, what’s next?

These are such awesome stories! I love reading them because I felt like I missed so much riding around in the shuttle van. I am so sorry that we missed the first hand-off – I can only imagine how disappointing that was for Cindy & Vicki! Big thanks to Steve Cap for filling in and running 2 miles with the baton! Thank goodness he had his phone with him because we had to call him and tell him to stop so that we could catch up with him!

It was such an awesome day! I would NEVER have imagined running in a marathon relay before Cynergy–not too mention half of other thousand things I could never imagine doing before Cynergy as well! Anyways, I know that some people probably think 6.1 miles isn’t a feat, but for me, it definitely was. I had NEVER run that much in my life, and honestly never planned on it, either. But for some odd reason in April, I thought it was a great idea–well, I was right, and I’m SO glad I did it, and finished! I actually surprised myself with the time, too, which was an added bonus! But to see everyone who I knew struggled with running cross each exchange station gave me inspiration for my leg. Thank you Maureen for organizing, the Cappellini’s and Matt for toting us around, and Cindy and Keith for giving me the foundation to know that you can do it!

Thank you MEL a million times over for bringing us all together! You ROCK gf!

Thank you CB & KB ~ Without you both, We could have all been sitting on the side lines watching with a bag of Chips and a soda thinking “I wish i had the heart that these people have” And “I could never in a million years run 3,5,6,12 miles”
Thanks to you both ~ WE all know we can!!!!!

MEL ~ Remember the 1st mail box run 2 years ago! YIKES…What ever happened to the mail box run anyways…. Hmmmmm

It was Uber SPECIAL to be a part of the CCF family Sunday. I wouldn’t want my life any other way than what it is now.

I LOVE seeing people acheive GOALS every single day when they thought there was NO way they could ever push their body to that next level!

    I can’t wait for next year! :)

Does anyone have 26.2 in them!? April 2010!! :)
