This is going to be so much fun…..

Very cool link to check out. The folks at Catalyst Athletics have an ‘Output Calculator’ on their site. You enter height, weight, exercises, weight, and times. It figures out your power output for a given workout. This is a great workout to try this with.

    Check it out….

    Alex, cool link.

Ok people, TWO comments? How long can we ignore this WOD? How long can we pretend that everything is ok? Maybe it’s just me but here goes; my name is Jill and I’m a fraudaholic. I’ve been pretending all day that everything is fine. The shaking will stop…eventually. Right? I mean, do I REALLY have to raise my arms above my waist today? How much do I really even need my arms in a day? Maybe the UPS guy knows I do crossfit as I violently shake signing for packages, as opposed to some less impressive explanation for the shakey signature. What happened to my brilliant “just don’t put the bar down” strategy? Ahh yes, it went awry after wacking myself in the chin with the bar after 10. And WHY did I let myself think “hmmm. 10 isn’t really even in the same neighborhood as 200″.

I don’t about you guys, but that SUCKED!!!!! But, you know, “crossfit sucked”; in a good way. Can’t just be me, people. There was A LOT of “red zone activity” on the noise-o-meter on the wall and it wasn’t the music! Hope we didn’t horrify your boot campers on their first day, Holly!

Seriously, great WOD, thanks Cindy. Some very gutsy performances all around. Tough day!

Jill – people aren’t ignoring this, we just have limited use of arms so typing is hard!!! A tough one for sure. It looks fairly harmless on the board, but once you get going some serious self-doubt creeps in as to how you are going to finish it! Nice work all around with the strength work on the thrusters – PR’s all around this morning!

Oh Jill, I’m not ingnoring, just disappointed for the DNF next to my name. I’m sure that if I didn’t spend time doing those 60 pull-ups I would have made it to 200. (150 thrusters today).

My arms are fine but its my hands that are tore up from all those pull-ups. Why did I let myself drop the bar soo much? Does anyone have any QUICK tips on healing popped blisters???? OUCH!

Jamie, its 5:35, how do you feel now?

Ignoring What? Was there a WOD today? I remember getting up at 4:30, driving to the box, and then black…

  7. Jill Says:
    September 8th, 2009 at 4:58 pm

Rich, I’m hurt. You don’t remember sitting in the corner quivering and sobbing with me, each in the fetal position til 6 am politely asked us to leave???

    Who Dat? Everything is blurry.

Remember Fetal Position, Remember Bailey yelling, Remember blisters –

    Frantastic!

Not for nothing, my thrusters sucked!, but there must be something for doing 160/170 pull-ups!

it is now 8:00 pm, shakes have stopped. OMG..finished the 200 well after 6am today! Diana thanks for the push!!

WHY isn’t anyone mentioning their QUADS? I can’t walk down the stairs without holding on and have to walk very slow. I say “ouch” every time I stand and have to explain that I’m ok to the people around me.

yes QUADS hurt baaad Jaime and did I mention that this is my least favorite WOD!

Alex, I must be doing something wrong, according to cathletics.com, yesterday I burned 222,334.32 Joules, which converts to 53,063 calories. If that’s the case I should’ve eaten a whole cow. (according to Wikepedia a joule is 4.190 calories)

  15. Alex Says:
    September 9th, 2009 at 7:39 am

    Mike,

I am not sure what that means. The only number that I pay attention to is wattage output. I assume the joule is used in the calculation process in some way. I will see if I can find out more.

Hey DanBr… It really really hurts, but soaking those ripped up hands in warm/hot salt water really seems to help the healing process, followed by keeping it wrapped up with bacitracin (sp?). Keep it wrapped up until the skin heals to the point where you can extend your fingers out without feeling like the new skin is going to split apart.

    Mike/Alex

In science, a calorie is a unit of heat/energy. It represents the amount of heat energy that would be need to raise one gram of water one degree Celsius.

In food energy, the “calorie” they talk about is actually a kilocalorie (sometimes called KCal or written ‘Calorie’ with a capital ‘C’).
    One KCal = 1000 calories

So for Mike’s numbers, divide the total calories by 1000, which equals 53.063 KCal.

I know it doesn’t seem like a lot for the amount of hell that you put yourself through, but keep in mind most of the calorie expenditure for a workout like this comes during the recovery phase, which I’m guessing is 2-3 days for most people.

    Hope that helps.

Fran-a-thon was DEFINATELY detrimental to my health. With HUGE bruise on my leg, TWO open wounds on my hands, and the inablitly to walk in a straight line, people are looking at my funny at work. Still waiting for that “hey feels great that I finished that one” feeling.

    Thanks Chip, I think. 53 Calories? what’s that………. 4 green beans?

  21. Jamie Says:

and for that matter, neither was shampoo or soap last night in open pullup wounds…OUCH!

I was just wondering if anyone was around to come over today and help me put on my deodorant, because I can’t lift my arms that high! Great workout, awesome people!!

  23. DanBr Says:
    September 9th, 2009 at 11:44 am

thanks chip for the advice. I will give it a try. I have been using liquid bandage during the day (at work) and during the evening, baccatracin (sp?) and bandaids.

or dan, you could just walk around all day hiding your hands, like i have! haha
