Paleo and the 4th

By Cara | June 30, 2009

Fourth of July is right around the corner and for many of us that means cookouts, parties and a lot of non Paleo foods. I think we should all try and help each other out and list some of our favorite recipes Paleo style.
The web site paleofoods.com has great recipes lets see if we have any good recipes to add. We can make it a Paleo 4th of july.

Pulled pork recipe – good for a crowd. And even the non-paleo people have liked it:

    4 lb pork loin
    8 oz organic chicken broth
    2 large onions
2 apples – cut into small pieces
1 to 1.5 bottles organicv bbq sauce no sugar added (found in Stop & Shop last aisle with other organic foods)

Slice onion – put layer on bottom of crockpot. Add pork and chicken broth and another layer of onion on top. Cook on low for 12 hours.
Drain liquid, pull pork into small pieces getting rid of any fat and add back to crock pot with onions. Add bottle of bbq sauce and cut up apples. Cook on low for another 6 hours. I usually have extra bbq sauce to add the last hour or so if it looks dry and some extra for serving.
