Love this video. There’s another one out there that talks about why CrossFit works as a fitness program as it relates to old Mr. Caveman…. Good stuff. I’ll post the link if I can find it.

Its going really well. We all feel really good. I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it is. You do have to plan but it is pretty easy to do beacuse you only have so many categories of things you can eat. It makes food shopping so easy. And its all really good clean food so you feel like your helping your body.
I am doing umlimited Paleo which means I can eat anytime i want. (Anything thats on the Paleo list) I have had two cheat meals in the past three weeks. They werent even that bad because you feel so good you dont want to ruin it with crappy food.I would tell everybody to try it for a few weeks. Yes the first week you are a little cranky I think it s because your missing the sugar. Its amazing how sweet fruit becomes and how it satisfies that urge for sugar. The best thing we did was got rid of anything that is not Paleo. We took five bags of food to the food bank. It helps make the choices for you. This is the third week for me and I finally felt the differnce in my workouts. I felt really energized this week and felt my endurance was a little better. Hope this helps.

Thanks Cara!!
What are you guys using to cook and on Salad’s etc. I know I can use olive oil but it’s not “the best choice”, and on salad’s what do you use for dressing because I think straight vinegar is not on the list either.
Oh and are you including dairy or not? Because I believe the “Paleo for Athletes” book, includes dairy and the other one does not.
Sorry I have lots of questions.

No problem Lindsey, ask anything. Holly and Steve know the exact details so they would be better to talk to. I am not doing dairy but I think you can have a little. We are making our own Italian dressing with out the sugar. And we are using vinegar. We use a lot of olive oil I think they say flax oil is the best but we have stuck to Olive. Hope that helps

I think a seminar is in the works….
Paleo has been going good. I definitely feel all around better. Until this week, I felt my WOD’s have been crappy, but there could be other factors in that. This week I feel good with the workouts (especially today! Thanks Linds!). I am struggling with pre-workout food. I have to plan a little better and do some more research on that.
I have cut dairy completely. I actually cut it out of my diet about 2 or 3 weeks before the nutrition cert. I feel less bloated. Please note, this does not mean eggs. Eggs are not dairy – they are an animal byproduct – however, we usually categorize them with the dairy products.
I’ve been using olive oil. Although, coconut oil is a great one too. I’m not a huge salad person, but an alternative to dressing could be salsa? with avocado.
The Paleo Diet for Athletes book has some good recipes for things like salsa, mayo and other condiments, in addition to meals.
I am still eating relatively the same amount of blocks as before and eating at the same times during the day.
I totally agree with Cara on the fruit!! It’s like a whole new world…your taste buds definitely change in response to these REAL foods.
Too must to blog about…..I’ll be in touch with a nutrition seminar date!
