When I first saw this challenge on the board I thought no way can I do that. 100 miles in 60 days. It would mean running every day 1.6 miles and that was a lot to me. The mailbox run used to be hard!! But I got out there the first day of the challenge snow and all and did my first 1.6 miles huffing and puffing. Luckily for me most of the 5 a.mers were participating. We ran many miles together after the WODs and on the days when I didn’t think I could run after the WOD they pushed me to do it – thank you guys! Each day it got easier and the 1.6 miles turned into 2 or 3 sometimes 4 – logging almost half my miles in Florida helped too! Special thanks to Jill, Maureen and Danielle for all the Saturday runs. The inspiration I got from all the CFers who ran the marathon was huge. Any time I wanted to stop – thinking I can’t run another step I thought of the 26.2 miles and kept on going.

As an added benefit, I’ve lost close to 10 pounds and need to buy new clothes!!

Thank you Cindy and Keith for this opportunity!! Bring on the next one!!

    Well done Di!
I am so very proud of you. And knowing that you cannot back down from a challenge I will have to think very carefully on the next one!!
Rest assured, you will tackle that one too….one step at a time! BRAVO!
I appreciate you recognizing those that helped along the way. This is a community effort and you guys go all out for each other! What a great way to live your life! You guys ROCK!

Congrats everyone! I loved seeing all the miles people logged written on the white board this morning! I am with Di on this one. When we first started it, I knew it would definitely be a huge challenge and time commitment and wasn’t sure I would make it – but I really don’t like to back down when challenged! It is hard to believe that a year and a half ago, I could barely make it to the mailbox (seriously – it took me 2 minutes and 41 seconds to do that on my first day of bootcamp) and now I am planning on running a 1/2 marathon in 3 weeks. It was great having this 100 mile goal to focus on and it has improved my running so much. I actually like running now! Thanks to all the marathoners for inspiring me (I am still in awe over all of you) and thanks to Jill, Di, and Danielle for the extra push with all of those weekend runs.

A perspective from someone who did not “complete” the challenge:

In my own eyes I suceeded. I ran every weekend -most weekends 2 days – rain, snow or shine! Liked the shine the most! But I also could not run the 400 M with out gasping for air. While I am still slow (very) – I can finally run the 400M and even did my first 5K thanks to Cynergy. So even if marathons may not be in my near future – I am happy with were I am today!

I am also happy for my CF buddies! I have watched Maureen go from 3 miles to 9 miles! That gives me hope and inspiration every time I run with her! She is amazing. And to Di, Tully and Jill and many others – thanks for all the fun runs!!!
