WOD 6-26-08

Good Morning!

Today’s workout is In honor of Holly Cruise, one of Cynergy’s brightest and most enthuasitic trainers. As many of you might know, yesterday was Holly’s birthday and yes she has reached the big ol’ quarter century mark!

You’d think that a birthday would entail a day off from the gym and some much deserved relaxin. Well, not for this birthday girl, she could have been spotted hanging around the gym, lifting heavy stuff for most of the late afternoon and going for a run even after the doors of Cyngery had closed. Talk about motivated!

Congrats Holly on all your hard work!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOLLY! Oh to be 25 again! Not only did the birthday girl spend her special day putting up impressive numbers on her Crossfit Total instead of eating cake, she also VOLUNTARILY ran 1 mile afterwards (and persuaded this much older Crossfitter to join her . . . ) - a healthy way to kick off the next quarter century!

    Happy 25th Birthday Holly!

    I am sad I missed your workout - handstand pushups sound interesting….Will need a demo on that one.

    Bootcamp # 2 ends for me tomorrow but I am happy to say I am joining the 5 AM crossfit (with Janine - let me know if she is too loud for anyone that early inside:)))! I am so excited to start.

    Since joining Cynergy I have finally found a commitment in me that has been missing for nearly a decade (perhaps since I was 25 - not giving my age away.)

    I have not worked out steeady in years - with work and kids, and a husband to feed and any other excuse I could find. Then one day at a Southern Living party, eating dips, drinking wine and adding fat to my body - I met a few people who were talking about Cynery and how great it was! The thought of a 5 AM workout was unheard of! I like my sleep way too much for that!

    But I did it figuring in 30 days I would loose 20 pounds. easy! Right!

    Well what happened was even better to me personally than losing 20 pounds. I look forward to 4:20 every day and when I miss it I feel even worse. I have more energy all day and I feel stronger, fit and good about myself. This, in combination with the nutrition classes has help me understand how the body works. I now know what I need to eat instead of what not to eat…

    Instead of starving for two days to go to a WW weigh in to lose a pound - to then gain back when I eat my face off for the next two days…I now eat more often and less and eat the right choices.

    I try not to get on the scale every day…(old bad habbit) I had committed to Cindy to lose that bad habbit quick. Instead I am relying on my waist size and how I feel!

    Now when I go home and feel like I need a glass of wine - I have a Whey protein shake and go for a walk / run. And I feel better…..

    Now when I am out I order healthy meals and enjoy it because I worked my ASS off (literally)and I refuse to waste calories on a cheesecake!!!

    When I am out I always have “fuel” handy to ensure I dont get stuck in the McD drive thru…

    Now my husband even looks at the labels for the right ingrediants - no more high fructose corn syrup or sugar in the house.

    No more Saturdays spent without a morning run / walk or atleast a few reps of sit ups and pushups - because I enjoy it and it makes my day better. Its not about fitting in the gym now its about fitting in the housework & errands - prioritys…

    This about sums up my experience to date with Cynergy. Steve and Holly (my two bootcamp leaders) have been great. Motivating, inspiring and funny all at 5am. Cynthia and Kieth are great inspirations every day - the emails, the cross fit classes and all the daily advise!

    Cynthia needs a link on the Cynergy web page called - “Just ask Cynthia”! This would help with the hundred emails we send her! She has helped me through a lot and I owe her (and my trainers) for where we all are today - and I am sure my 5 am freinds would agree or we would not keep coming back for more!!!
