What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program of constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement, with the goal of improving fitness and physical preparedness.
Workouts are typically 20 minutes or less and involve intense, demanding all-out physical exertion. We combine movements such as sprinting, rowing, jumping rope, climbing rope, weightlifting, and carrying sandbags. We use barbells, bumper plates, dumbbells, gymnastics rings, pull-up bars, kettlebells, medicine balls, and many bodyweight exercises. These elements are mixed in numerous combinations to form prescribed "Workouts of the Day" or "WODs".
Our hour-long classes include a warm-up, stretching, a skill development segment - if required, and a high-intensity WOD. Performances on each WOD are scored and ranked to encourage competition and to track individual progress. We have a whole wall devoted to the top 10 athletes for a variety of different WODs, lifts, runs and rows.
